This is what I did:
4 cups elbow macaroni
3 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons of butter
1/4 cup flour
A generous pinch of salt and pepper
1 tbsp of dry mustard
4 cups of cheese plus 1 cup of cheese for topping
1 package of extra lean turkey
1 can diced tomatoes
Cook macaroni to al dente.
Melt butter in saucepan, then whisk in milk.
Add flour. Keep whisking.
Add salt and pepper.
Add cheese and whisk until thick and blended.
Add noodles to greased Pyrex dish.
Pour cheese sauce over noodles and mix.
Add turkey (cooked earlier in the day to save time) and tomatoes. Mix well.
Add extra layer of cheese to the top.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes and broil for 2.
Overall, it was yummy. Hubby picked out all the tomatoes, and since they didn't really add anything to the recipe I would probably leave them out next time.
It was good but lacking the WOW factor.
Will try again soon!
Does anyone have a GREAT recipe to share?
XO
Lauren
